PINK1 and Parkin mutations lead to the early onset of Parkinson's disease. PINK1-mediated phosphorylation of ubiquitin (Ub), ubiquitin-like protein (NEDD8), and ubiquitin-like (Ubl) domain of Parkin activate autoinhibited Parkin E3 ligase.
