Previous reports of macrocyclic lactone (ML) resistance in Dirofilaria immitis, the parasitic nematode which causes heartworm disease, have mainly been from the southern Mississippi Delta region. Southeast Missouri (SEMO), forming the northern boundary of this region, has not previously been well studied.
