Thrombophilia in venous thromboembolism (VTE) is multifactorial. Von Willebrand factor (vWF) plays a major role in primary hemostasis. While elevated vWF levels are well documented in VTE, findings related to its cleaving protease (ADAMTS-13) are contradicting.
