Myeloproliferative syndromes (MPS) are hematologic malignancies due to the expansion of an abnormal hematopoietic stem cell. They include chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and non-CML MPS such as polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia and primary myelofibrosis.
