BACKGROUND: Senataxin (SETX) is a DNA/RNA helicase critical for neuron survival. SETX mutations underlie two inherited neurodegenerative diseases: Ataxia with Oculomotor Apraxia type 2 (AOA2) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis type 4 (ALS4).
