Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST) are aggressive soft tissue sarcomas with poor prognosis, developing either sporadically or in persons with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Loss of CDKN2A/B is an important early event in MPNST progression.
