<h4>Background</h4> Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) are soft tissue sarcomas that arise from the peripheral nervous system. Half of the tumors develop in the context of the genetic disease Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and the rest are sporadic sarcomas.
