AIMS: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease. Prostaglandins E2 (PGE2), the product of the cyclo-oxygenase 2 (COX-2) enzyme, has critical roles in the etiology of autoimmune diseases.
