The ciprofloxacin-resistance crpP gene, encoded by the pUM505 plasmid, isolated from a P. aeruginosa clinical isolate, confers an enzymatic mechanism of antibiotic phosphorylation, which is ATP-dependent, that decreases ciprofloxacin susceptibility.
