OBJECTIVE: Activity of the paraoxonase 1 (PON1) enzyme varies prominently according to the PON1 Q192R genotype. The arginine (R) genotype hydrolyzes peroxided lipids more quickly and efficiently than the glutamine (Q) genotype.
