BACKGROUND: Additional sex combs-like 1 (ASXL1) is frequently mutated in myeloid malignancies. Recent studies showed that hematopoietic-specific deletion of Asxl1 or overexpression of mutant ASXL1 resulted in myelodysplasia-like disease in mice.
