Inteins mediate protein splicing, which has found extensive applications in protein science and biotechnology. In the Mycobacterium tuberculosis RecA mini-mini intein (ΔΔIhh), a single valine to leucine substitution at position 67 (V67L) dramatically increases intein stability and activity.
