We demonstrated that ligand-activated nuclear receptor Rev-erbα mitigates CCl4-induced liver fibrosis. Rev-erbα is also a novel regulator of autophagy, a crucial eukaryotic catabolic system in which lysosomes degrade substrates for energy generation.
