INTRODUCTION: Previous magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and mass spectroscopy studies have shown accumulation of 2-hydroxyglutarate (2HG) in mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) gliomas. IDH mutation is known to be a powerful positive prognostic marker in malignant gliomas.
