A high incidence of oncogenic K-ras mutations is observed in lung adenocarcinoma of human cases and carcinogen-induced animal models. The process of oncogenic K-ras-mediated lung adenocarcinogenesis can be dissected into two parts: pre- and post-K-ras mutation.
