Anticonvulsants such as carbamazepine and phenytoin are associated with adverse skin reactions ranging from maculopapular exanthems to more severe reactions, including drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
