Steroid sulfatase (STS) is an enzyme that hydrolyzes steroid sulfates such as dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) and estrone sulfate. STS has a key role in the synthesis of steroid hormones in placenta and breast cancer cells.
