The adenovirus single-stranded DNA (ssDNA)-binding protein (DBP) is necessary for the elongation step in viral DNA replication. In an attempt to characterize the putative ssDNA-binding domain of the DBP, we purified and characterized the Ad2ts111A DBP, which contains a glycine-to-valine substitution at amino acid 280.
