Human transthyretin (TTR) is a homotetrameric protein that is responsible for the formation of amyloid in patients with familiar amyloidotic polyneuropathy (FAP), familiar amyloidotic cardiomyopathy (FAC) and senile systemic amyloidosis (SSA).
