We have identified a novel regulator from the MerR family of transcription factors in the bacterial pathogen Haemophilus influenzae (HI1623; nickel-associated merR-like Regulator--NimR). NimR regulates the expression of a Ni(2+) uptake transporter (NikKLMQO).
