The hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the accumulation of β-amyloid protein (Aβ). Aβ is generated from the β-amyloid precursor protein (APP) through the proteolysis of β-site APP cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1) and γ-secretase.
