O(6)-Methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) repairs DNA damage caused by alkylating agents including N-nitroso compounds from diet. MGMT Ile143Val polymorphism may lead to less DNA damage repair and increased cancer risk depending on the environmental exposures.
