BACKGROUND: Plasma hyaluronan-binding protein (PHBP), a protease implicated in extracellular proteolysis, consists of multiple domains: an N-terminal region (NTR), three epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domains, a kringle domain, and a protease domain.
