BACKGROUND: Aspirin-intolerant asthma (AIA) is a subtype of asthma induced by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and characterized by an aggressive mucosal inflammation of the lower airway (asthma) and the upper airways (rhinitis and nasal polyp).
