Heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HB-EGF) is a cardiogenic and cardiohypertrophic growth factor. ProHB-EGF, a product of the Hb-egf gene and the precursor of HB-EGF, is anchored to the plasma membrane.
