Activated H-ras genes are present in a number of skin tumors induced in animals by carcinogen treatment. The involvement of the ras oncogenes in tumorigenesis was investigated in keratoacanthomas, benign and self-regressing tumors, as well as malignant squamous cell carcinomas.
