Compartment-specific control of phosphoinositide lipids is essential for cell function. The Sac1 lipid phosphatase regulates endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate [PI(4)P] in response to nutrient levels and cell growth stages.
