Upon antigen stimulation, B lymphoid cells undergo terminal differentiation into antibody-secreting plasma cells. This process accompanies drastic changes in cell functions such as a loss of B-cell identity, induction of secretory apparatus, and an extremely increased transcription of antibody genes.
