Oxidative stress is involved in the degeneration of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic system in Parkinson's disease (PD). Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) is a potent antioxidant in the cell membrane that can trap free radicals and prohibit lipid peroxidation.
