OBJECTIVE: To compare the viral genotypes present in RNA from brain and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and DNA from brain during acute, asymptomatic and late stages of SIV infection of macaques. METHODS: Eighteen pigtailed macaques were intravenously inoculated with SIV.
