Human leukocyte antigens (HLA) class II antigen-mediated apoptosis has been documented in antigen-presenting cells and B lymphoproliferations. Characteristics of the apoptosis include rapidity and selectivity for mature cells. Follicular lymphomas are particularly refractory to apoptosis.
