Ca+-induced Ca2+ release (CICR) in the heart involves local Ca2+ signaling between sarcolemmal L-type Ca2+ channels (dihydropyridine receptors, DHPRs) and type 2 ryanodine receptors (RyR2s) in the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR).
