Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor mutants from patients with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism are frequently misrouted proteins that exert a dominant-negative (DN) effect on human (h) wild-type (WT) receptor, due to oligomerization and retention in the endoplasmic reticulum.
