A series of enzymatic substitutions modifies the basic structure of complex-type biantennary N-glycans. Among them, a beta1,2-linked N-acetylglucosamine residue is introduced to the central mannose moiety of the core-fucosylated oligosaccharide by N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase VII.
