BACKGROUND: Seasonal allergic rhinitis (SAR) is a common allergic disorder characterized by episodes of sneezing, rhinorrhea, and swelling of the nasal mucosa. Although the pathogenesis of SAR remains unclear, there does appear to be a genetic predisposition to development of SAR.
