Dyskeratosis congenita (DC) is a rare multi-system syndrome characterized by nail dystrophy, abnormal skin pigmentation and mucosal leukoplakia. The gene mutated in the X-linked form of human DC encodes for dyskerin, a nucleolar pseudourydilase that is involved in rRNA maturation.
