Young adult male Wistar rats were given 30 mg per kg of cyclosporin (CS) for 21 consecutive days. A panel of monoclonal antibodies was used to study the phenotype of thymic epithelial cells. After treatment with CS, subcapsular epithelial cells, although phenotypically similar to medullary epithelial cells, were changed in a similar manner to phenotypically distinct epithelial cells of the deep cortex.
