<h3>Abstract</h3> Influenza A viruses initiate infection by binding to glycans with terminal sialic acids present on the cell surface. Hosts of influenza A viruses variably express two major forms of sialic acid, N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuAc) and N-glycolylneuraminic acid (NeuGc).
