BACKGROUND: A novel member of the Wnt signalling pathway, Chibby, was recently identified. This protein inhibits Wnt/beta-catenin mediated transcriptional activation by competing with Lef-1 (the transcription factor and target of beta-catenin) to bind to beta-catenin.
