Accumulation of mutations in tumour suppressor genes and oncogenes has been proposed to underlie the initiation and progression of sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC). Evidence is accumulating to suggest that the caudal homeobox gene CDX2 is implicated in the pathogenesis of CRC.
