TraR, a quorum-sensing activator, induces transcription from its binding site, the tra-box, located upstream of Ti plasmid target promoters. TraR activated expression of a lacZ reporter in Escherichia coli only when RpoAAt from Agrobacterium tumefaciens was co-expressed.
