Beta-adrenoceptors are polymorphic. Two common polymorphisms in the beta1-adrenoceptor (Ser49Gly and Arg389Gly) and three in the beta2-adrenoceptor (Arg16Gly, Gln27Glu, and Thr164Ile) appear to influence receptor function.
