Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR gamma) plays an important role in lipid metabolism, insulin sensitivity, atherogenesis, and immune regulation. A genetic polymorphism (C161T) at exon 6 of PPAR gamma gene (PPARG) was reported to be associated with the onset of coronary artery disease.
