Patterns of reversion produced by ciprofloxacin, enoxacin and ofloxacin in Salmonella typhimurium strains carrying the hisG428 ochre mutation have been studied. These fluorinated quinolones produce a significant increase in reversion of this mutation, even when it is located on the chromosome.
