Islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP), otherwise called amylin, is the monomeric component of islet amyloid. Deposition of this amyloid is a characteristic feature of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus in humans and may play a role in the pathogenesis of the disease.
