Female C57BR/cdJ (BR) mice are unusually susceptible to spontaneous and chemically induced hepatocarcinogenesis relative to females of other inbred strains, in part because they are insensitive to the inhibitory effects of ovarian hormones on liver tumor development; BR males are intermediate among strains in their sensitivity. C57BL/6J (B6) male and female mice are relatively resistant among inbred strains....
