We have identified single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the mismatch-repair gene TcMSH2 from Trypanosoma cruzi. Phylogenetic inferences based on the SNPs, confirmed by RFLP analysis of 32 strains, showed three distinct haplogroups, denominated A, B, and C.
