Mitochondrial defects have been associated with neurological disorders, as well as cancers. Two ubiquitously expressed mitochondrial enzymes--succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) and fumarate hydratase (FH, fumarase)--catalyse sequential steps in the Krebs tricarboxylic-acid cycle.
