Yra1p/REF participates in mRNA export by recruiting the export receptor Mex67p to messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) complexes. Yra1p also binds Sub2p, a DEAD box ATPase/RNA helicase implicated in splicing and required for mRNA export.
