Interleukin-18 (IL-18) and interleukin-12 (IL-12) synergistically stimulate interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) production from Th1 cells. The levels of serum IL-18 and IFN-gamma and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid IL-18 were elevated in patients with sarcoidosis.
